Sarah Palin's hometown rallied around her as mayor - now Republicans wonder if the rest of America will warm up to the surprise pick from cold country.

I respect the right of any man not to wear a flag pin, and to abstain from saying the pledge of allegiance. But I do not respect such a man, nor consider him fit to occupy the office of President of the United States, especially if he commences doing so for political gain rather than it being a reflection of his heart....

Fox News reports that a yet to be identified gunman walked into the headquarters of the Arkansas Democratic Party and killed Bill Gwatney, the Party Chairman.
A spokesman for the Little Rock Police said there were no "heated words" from the suspect who was killed in a shootout with police after a 30 mile car chase, and he was not recognized by the staff.
