Stupid Gas Seeping from Florida Swamps?

What is wrong with the Fumb Ducks in Florida?

They couldn't figure out how to fill out their ballots, so they screwed up the 2000 election.
They couldn't get the recounts right afterwards, so the Supreme Court had to decide it.
They couldn't figure out when to vote, so their delegates are not certified to be counted at the 2008 Democrat Convention because they moved up their primary.

Now Hillary Clinton wants to change the rules after the game by counting them (since they count for her), effectively stealing the election from Barack Obama.

Every time there is an election, it seems like the Floridians screw it up. Maybe there is stupid gas seeping up from the swamps?

Liberal/Democrat Tactics- No Conservatives Involved

It has always seemed to me that a favorite tactic of the left was to accuse the right of exactly what they themselves were doing. During an election in particular, the accusations fly. Now you can't say that the right never does anything sneaky, but the heavy handed tactics of the left are legendary, and usually blamed on the right.

If you want to see what I am talking about here, watch the news between now and the Democrat Party convention. You will see tactics in play you were always told are the trademark of the Republican Party, with no Republicans involved. The Democrats will be gaming each other.

Watch how they change the rules as they go, while they tell you they are following them. Watch how the Clintons steal the nomination from Senator Obama, while claiming they won fair and square.

You may see, right before your very eyes, Barack Obama win the nomination in votes and delegates, only to have the Party establishment hand it over to Hillary Clinton using subterfuge and trickery.

If this happens, you may also see a violent reaction. The Democrat Convention might make the best "reality TV" program of 2008.

Hillary Calls Out Obama!

Can Hillary Clinton find anything that will work to unseat Barak Obama as the front runner in the Democrat Party's Presidential nominee sweepstakes?

So far she cried, twice, so that one is used up. She trotted out Bill, and his big yap sent things downhill. She has used sexism, but women are deserting her for Barak's irresistible charm, and the race card has backfired badly sending African Americans running towards Obama.

Hillary, running out of money and support and sounding increasingly desperate is trying a new tactic, righteous indignation. Claiming Barak Obama has aggrieved her badly by distributing what she calls misleading policy mailers on health care and free trade, she angrily attacked him.

"Shame on you, Barack Obama," Clinton said during a campaign rally in Ohio, which along with the southern state of Texas holds key Democratic nominating contests on March 4.

"It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. That's what I expect from you. Meet me in Ohio. Let's have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign."

Is that like "Obama, meet me after school behind the gymnasium"? She is calling him out! Did Hillary Clinton ever exhibit this much anger when it became public that her husband the President caroused around the Oval Office with Monica Lewinsky? Did she say "Monica, meet me behind the White House and I will kick your ass!"?

One could say Bill's behavior didn't rise to the level of "distributing misleading policy mailers on health care and free trade", or one could say that Hillary Clinton's chance of becoming the first female President can be viewed at this point in the rear view mirror.

The real reason Hillary is losing appears to be, well Hillary.

Deficit Spending = Taxation Without Representation

Our Founding Fathers dumped tea into Boston Harbor as a protest against a distant King that taxed them unfairly, and without representation.

There is a new King, and it is the Federal Government. It is not that there is no elected government. It is that the elected government spends dollars that have to be borrowed, leaving others to repay them. The government's thirst for spending exceeds the tax revenues, hence deficit spending.

The deficits are added to the National Debt, which will presumably be paid for in the future. The rub is, the people who will repay the debt and their yet to be elected governments have no say in the deal.

According to the National Debt Clock at brillig.com the Outstanding Public Debt is:

Deficit spending could be eliminated by reduced spending, or raising taxes, pick your poison. Some would suggest it is time for another Boston Tea Party. Either way, every deficit dollar is taxation without representation of our future generations jeopardizing their economic security.

Clinton Wins, Pollsters and Pundits Big Losers in New Hampshire

Hillary Clinton won New Hampshire? I wonder who is more shocked, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or the public?

The press, pundits and pollsters got New Hampshire so wrong, that one might encourage them to a new line of work. They have become the story, and in this case, the story is how poorly they did predicting New Hampshire.

The supposedly unstoppable "Barack Obama up by double digits steamroller" either ran out of steam, or never existed in the first place.

If on the other hand you believe that Hillary's crocodile tears turned it around, then America is in worse shape then we thought. Who thinks Putin or Achmedinijad, or any other tough foreign leader our next President will deal with will be impressed or intimidated by a crying President Hillary?

Beginning Of The End For Hillary???

Hillary Clinton became visibly emotional at a New Hampshire campaign event Monday after a friendly question from a voter.

One-time presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton scoffed at suggestions that she had an “Ed Muskie moment” on the campaign trail Monday, when she was driven to the verge of tears at a campaign event during the final hours before New Hampshire voters go to the polls Tuesday.

Muskie buried his 1972 Democratic presidential race when he broke down after the Manchester Union Leader hurled insults at his wife in an article. He later claimed he was wiping snowflakes from his face, but the damage to his campaign was done.

“This is so ridiculous,” Clinton told FOX News. “People who followed me during the course of my life know that I’m a passionate person and I care deeply about what happens to people. You know, here I am sitting in an intimate setting, although granted there are a million cameras around, talking to people about what they care about and what’s on their minds and how deeply concerned they are about our country.”

“I have so many opportunities and don’t want us to fall backwards,” she said. “I see what’s happening, people. … Some of us are ready some of us are not. When we look at the array of problems and potential for it to spin out of control, this is one of the most important elections. As tired as I am … I believe so strongly (in) who we are as a nation so I’ll do everything I can to make my case and voters get to decide.”

Afterward, Clinton wouldn’t call it a double standard that she was being judged for her emotional composure, but indicated her passion for her beliefs should not be treated differently because she is a female.

“We have gone through years of male political figures who have done everything from cry to scream, who have been our presidents. We have all kinds of pictures and stories and you know, I am who I am. I think people who have followed me and watched me they know I am cool under fire, they know that I am tough, they know that I can make decisions.

“But (I) also want them to know I’m a real person, I have feelings, I care about what I do, I don’t do this because I want to live in the White House again. I do this because I’m worried about our country and what is going to happen in the next generation. And if I get emotional about that or if I’m passionate about defending myself, well than I’ll (let) people draw their own conclusion,” she said.

If I Were President...

If I were President I would restore the role of the Federal Government to it's original roles:

1. Defend the Country
2. Protect and Regulate the Borders
3. Regulate and mediate interstate commerce.

The jettisoning of massive amounts of welfare and special interest spending would be used to:

1. Eliminate deficit spending
2. Pay off the national debt
3. Restore the Social Security Funds spent by congress
4. Rebuild Nationally owned infrastructure
5. Reduce and simplify taxes
6. Encourage extremely rich Americans to contribute as much additional tax as they choose
7. Secure the borders

As a part of the National Defense I would

1. Reduce and eventually eliminate stationing of US Troops in Japan, Europe and Korea.
2. Correspondingly Increase troop strengths in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait (other Middle East Countries as needed).
3. Make a major push in Iraq to seize upon the strengths of the surge with the goal of leaving by fall of 2012.
4. In January 2013 begin the phased removal American Troops from the Middle East
5. Pass the "Assured Destruction" initiative. This would let belligerent States like Iran know that if the US is attacked and it is tracked back to them, we will level their 3 largest cities and destroy their infrastructure from the air.

To make keeping troops in the middle east past 2012 unnecessary I would engage in a National Energy independence initiative with he goal of being energy independent by 2050.

1. Immediately Fund a new "Manhattan Project" to discover/invent a new fuel for cars, trucks and power plants
A. Offer the technology to the car companies for free to incorporate it into their products
B. Seed the buildout of privately owned National distribution so consumers can get fuel for the new vehicles
2. Incentivize consumers and industry to continue to upgrade to green technologies and make energy conservation a National Priority.
3. Continue to use foreign oil and keep our own as a reserve until a suitable replacement is found.

Just a start.

Ahmadinejad to Speak at Columbia University, Why?

Columbia University's allowing the President of Iran to speak is perplexing at best.

Columbia will provide a forum for the President of a country that has publicly supported the destruction of Israel, denies the holocaust took place, supports terrorists, and is trying to develop nuclear weapons.

Yet Columbia says it is a free speech issue. Students regularly shut out or shout down those they disagree with from the right of the American political spectrum. Why is the President of a nation that is the opposite of all the students claim to hold dear given so much lattiude? Will they shout down Ahmadinejad, or show him the respect they reserve for those they agree with?

The university claims military recruiters should not be allowed on campus because of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policies regarding gays in the military. Ahmadinejad is the President of a country that is said to execute homosexuals, and where women are stoned to death for doing what Monica Lewinsky did to President BIll Clinton in the White House.

Claiming it's a freedom of speech issue seems a thin veil, but for what?

Bush on Troop Withdrawals: "Return on success"- Dems Say No

Citing recent success with the surge, President Bush said last night in a speech to the nation that he would start withdrawing troops from Iraq soon and be back to pre-surge levels by July 2008.

"The principle guiding my decisions on troop levels in Iraq is: return on success," the president said, trying to summon the nation's resolve once again to help Iraq "defeat those who threaten its future and also threaten ours." source FoxNews.com
Fresh from calling General Petraus a liar, Democrats say that returning to pre-surge levels is not progress, not realizing that if the surge was failing, there would be no withdrawals, and the President would be asking for even more reinforcements.

The change of strategy Democrats demanded 6 months ago; new Generals, new Secretary of Defense, new rules of engagement, have been put in place, but are being ignored despite promising signs of success.

It is obvious that the Democrat Party strategy is organized around winning the Presidency, not winning the war. They cannot afford to support their own Country's war effort because that would lend support to Republicans in the race for the White House. So they continue to criticize and second guess at every turn.

When the President is committing to withdrawing troops on success and the Democrats say no, what are they saying? They are saying they want to withdraw the troops on failure and defeat, regardless of the consequences in human lives and to US interests in the region.

Bin Laden Echoes Democrat Themes

Is it an accident that the recent Bin Laden tapes seem to echo many Democrat Party themes?
Here is an excerpt of a blog post by Christopher G. Adamo on the California Conservative that points out some interesting similarities.

In light of Osama Bin Laden’s videotaped message to the West (Or was it a press release from DNC Chairman Howard Dean?), one might be given to muse that liberal abhorrence for the President’s surveillance of incoming phone calls from known terrorists might ultimately stem from self-interest. Perhaps they simply do not want to be monitored as they share strategies and talking points with the Al Qaeda leader.

Furthermore, the DNC may decide to keep a copy of the Bin Laden tape, which could come in handy during the 2008 campaign season. Just as aspiring politicians feel compelled to pander in Spanish to the increasing numbers of “undocumented voters,” so might Dean and the Democrats want to remind those “Jihadist-Americans” in their native tongue which party will best ensure that their interests are served.

While such satire may be deemed overly harsh, in truth it fails to fully convey the depths to which the current Democrat leaders, along with their cronies in the media and the blogosphere, have sunk in their efforts to promote their anti-American cause. And as one outrageous example after another unfolds before the American people in the liberal/Democrat attempt to demean and undermine the war on terror, the case for their sedition becomes ever more crystal clear.

Read the rest here.

"Your End Of the Boat Is Sinking"

A quotable quote in Reader's Digest attributed to Hugh Downs says:

To say my fate is not tied to your fate is like saying your end of the boat is sinking.
This brings to mind the Democrat strategy to win the Presidency in 2008. They believe they must be relentless in their criticism of the war regardless of how it might embolden the enemy into believing they can win.

My first question is will this work? My second and more important question is, can the damage they are doing to America be repaired by the next President, regardless of which party wins?

News Crews Reenacting Senator Craig's Restroom Antics

If Senator Craig of Idaho really did try to signal an undercover officer to engage in sex with him in a Minnesota airport restroom as is alleged, it is really disgusting.

As if it wasn't disgusting enough, a news crew has created a video reenactment.

As usual, whenever a conservative is caught doing something that stinks of hypocrisy, the left goes wild, but in the process demonstrates their own.

Where is the reenactment of Monica Lewinsky performing fellatio on President Bill Clinton in the Oval Office at the White House?.

It was just about sex as I remember.

Iran Prepared to Fill Iraq Power Vacuum

The headline from the Drudge Report reads: Iran Prepared to Fill Iraq Power Vacuum

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned Tuesday that a power vacuum is imminent in Iraq and said that Iran was ready to help fill the gap.

"The political power of the occupiers is collapsing rapidly," Ahmadinejad said at a press conference in Tehran, referring to U.S. troops in Iraq. "Soon, we will see a huge power vacuum in the region. Of course, we are prepared to fill the gap, with the help of neighbors and regional friends like Saudi Arabia, and with the help of the Iraqi nation." source: Breitbart.com

Credit goes to the Democrat Party who's incessant calls for immediate troop withdrawal and Maliki's resignation emboldens the Iranians and Al Qaeda, and prolongs the war.

Michelle Obama's Family Comments WERE About The Clinton's

Columnist Jennifer Hunter takes credit for setting the news abuz with a column that interpreted Michelle Obama's recent Family Values comments as being directed at Bill and Hillary Clinton.

...in the fifth paragraph of the story, I suggested that during an introduction to a speech by her husband, something she said could be interpreted as a swipe against the Clintons, and that set the tongues wagging, hit Drudge's Web site, was discussed on CNN, ABC and MSNBC and prompted an e-mail from Michelle Obama's communications director, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, who said I had completely misunderstood what Michelle Obama had said.

The statement by Mrs Obama said:

"One of the most important things that we need to know about the next president of the United States is, is he somebody that shares our values, is he somebody that respects family, is a good and decent person? So our view is that if you can't run your own house, you certainly can't run the White House...

It is clear to anyone who witnessed the Bill and Monica affair, the Bill and "bimbo's name here" allegations in the news and the Clinton's "married but keeping separate houseolds" lifestyle that the Clintons do not share the same family values that mainstream America has.

Despite denials by the Obama camp, Michelle Obama's comments WERE directed at Billary Clinton.

The Ant and the Grasshopper

*OLD VERSION*: (when we had a strong work ethic)

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold,

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

*************************************

*MODERN VERSION:*

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton stage a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We shall overcome." Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi , John Kerry and Barak Obama exclaim in an interview with Larry King Live that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC and ACLU lawyers draft the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs(invented by AL GORE) and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients as well as over 400 Presidential Pardons Clinton gave before leaving office.

The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, off to build another house.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

And that is how it happens folks - so...

2008 Presidential Endorsement

The Sacramento Republicrat proudly supports Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States.

I will have many more posts on Rudy in the very near future, but here are two reasons why I like him:

MR. GOLER: Are you suggesting we invited the 9/11 attack, sir?

REP. PAUL: I'm suggesting that we listen to the people who attacked us and the reason they did it, and they are delighted that we're over there because Osama bin Laden has said, "I am glad you're over on our sand because we can target you so much easier." They have already now since that time -- (bell rings) -- have killed 3,400 of our men, and I don't think it was necessary.

MR. GIULIANI: Wendell, may I comment on that? That's really an extraordinary statement. That's an extraordinary statement, as someone who lived through the attack of September 11, that we invited the attack because we were attacking Iraq. I don't think I've heard that before, and I've heard some pretty absurd explanations for September 11th. (Applause, cheers.)

And I would ask the congressman to withdraw that comment and tell us that he didn't really mean that. (Applause.)

And this one too...

MR. HUME: Mayor Giuliani, the former director of Central Intelligence, George Tenet, the current head of the CIA have both said that the most valuable intelligence tool they have had has been the information gained from what are called enhanced interrogation techniques to include, presumably, water-boarding.

What is your view whether such techniques should be applied in a scenario like the one I described?

MR. GIULIANI: In the hypothetical that you gave me, which assumes that we know there's going to be another attack and these people know about it, I would tell the people who had to do the interrogation to use every method they could think of. It shouldn't be torture, but every method they can think of --

MR. HUME: Water-boarding?

MR. GIULIANI: -- and I would -- and I would -- well, I'd say every method they could think of, and I would support them in doing that because I've seen what -- (interrupted by applause) -- I've seen what can happen when you make a mistake about this, and I don't want to see another 3,000 people dead in New York or any place else.

Jerry Falwell R.I.P.

Moral Majority founder, prominent televangelist dies at 73 after being found unresponsive in his office.

From FOXnews:

RICHMOND, Virginia — The Rev. Jerry Falwell, a prominent conservative televangelist who founded a movement that helped mold the religious right into a political power, died Tuesday, his aide said. He was 73.

Falwell was found unconscious in his office, said Ron Godwin, the executive vice president for Liberty University, which was founded by Falwell.

Falwell was found unresponsive around 10:45 a.m. after he missed an appointment, and was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. Godwin said he was not sure what caused the collapse, but he said Falwell "has a history of heart challenges."

"CPR efforts were unsuccessful," said Godwin. He did not have any additional information on time or cause of death.

"I had breakfast with him, and he was fine at breakfast," Godwin said. "He went to his office, I went to mine, and they found him unresponsive."

Barack vs. Hillary....

Barack and Hillary both show up in Selma to show off their "blackness".

It is clear that these candidates turned on their "blackness". Look at Obama in the first video compared to the second. It's obvious he is speaking to a "different" audience.

Obama as the keynote speaker for the DNC:

Obama as a speaker in Selma, Alabama:

Now check out Hillary in all of her glory:

They are both pushing very hard to be known as "The People's Candidate" among the African American voters. Besides, we all know that Bill Clinton was the first black President...

The New Axis of Evil

Meet the new Axis of Evil:

After watching both George Bush and Dick TDurbin, I know one thing; we are in trouble.

Going in to the speech you were either for the war or you were against the war. I have been saying that something needs to happen. Well folks, tonight something did. Our Commander in Chief who's sworn duty is to protect us, laid out a plan to do so. He did the following:

-Admitted we need a change
-Took responsibility for the mistakes and failures in Iraq
-Laid out a plan for success
-Put the Iraqi government on notice that they need to step up as the Americans will not always be here

Bush is calling for 21,000 additional troops to be deployed in Iraq. I feel this plan will succeed. He has made extensive changes in the leadership and has a plan for success. When asked if the plan fails what happens, numerous senior White House officials are saying clearly, "We won't need a plan B, period". I have not seen this kind of conviction or confidence coming from this White House in quite some time.

Senator Dick Durbin had his five minutes in which he stated "Tonight President Bush acknowledged what most Americans know — we are not winning in Iraq ... indeed the challenge is grave and deteriorating."

Durbin also joined a statement made with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.

"The president had an opportunity tonight to demonstrate that he understood the depth of the concern in the country, make a long overdue course correction, and articulate a clear mission for our engagement in Iraq. Instead, he chose to escalate our involvement in Iraq's civil war by proposing a substantial increase in the number of our forces there," they said.

If the Congress or Senate block or attempt to block this move or as Kennedy threatened, pull the funding, the American people need to know that will be the end. We will have lost the war. If we pull out of Iraq now, as Presidential Candidate Tom Vilsack suggests, then we are creating a breeding ground for terrorism. Going to Iraq, stay at hotel Al-Queda...

Bottom line, support our troops, get them what they need; more of them!

Rumsfeld Is Out...What Was Bush Thinking?

Today, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld annouced he had offered his resignation and President Bush accepted.
Rumsfeld will be replaced by former CIA head Bob Gates.

According to reports, Bush spoke with and offered the job to Gates this past Sunday while in Crawford, Tx.

So, here is my question, WHY!?! I have not been pointing fingers or placing blame on the fact that the Republican party got their rear ends handed to them last night. But, (you new one was coming) if Bush was already planning on replacing Rumsfeld, why not take advantage of this?

It's been pretty clear that for many months, the American people have not been happy with the way the Bush Administration is handling the Iraq war. So by making this announcement the day after the Republican Party loses majority in The House and probably The Senate, it looks like Bush is trying to keep the Democratic Leadership off his back.

I say that was a bad move. The administration knew the American people were unhappy and looking for change. So why not come out and say, " We realize that we need change and here is where we are starting...". Accept Rumsfelds resignation and use that to your benefit. This was a missed opportunity by the President and his administration. If this was a Karl Rove move, then Bush needs to go shopping for a new political advisor.

Hillary Speaks...

Sen. Hillary Clinton, speaking at a Kingston campaign stop this morning, joined the chorus of Democrats criticizing Sen. John Kerry for what the former presidential candidate has called a joke gone awry.

“What Sen. Kerry said was inappropriate,” she said.

When asked if Kerry should apologize, as President Bush and other members of both parties have said, Clinton said “I heard he said he was sorry.” He has said he was sorry for the joke being botched, but has not apologized to our troops.

Clinton tried to deflect attention from the controversy by saying “elections are about the future,” and “we don’t have to be re-fighting the 2004 election, as much as President Bush would like that.”

I had asked which side of the issue she would be on here, I guess now we now. Both sides...

"I Apologize to No One"

Kerry told reporters in Seattle, Washington, that the remark was a "botched joke" meant to target the president, not U.S. troops. Kerry was supposed to say, "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."

This folks, is what's known as "Damage Control". Kerry slipped up and he should apologize.

Here are a few requests for an apology:

American Legion to Sen. Kerry: Apologize Now

LANHAM, Md., Oct. 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- AMVETS' National Commander expressed disbelief and disappointment in the comments by Senator John Kerry Monday.

“For the Senator to suggest that today’s United States military is made up of uneducated men and women who didn’t ‘study hard’ or ‘make an effort to be smart’ is ridiculous and appalling,” AMVETS National Commander Thomas C. McGriff said Tuesday. “The men and women in uniform today make up the most advanced, highly-educated force ever seen. To suggest otherwise is a slap in the face to every soldier, sailor, airman, Marine and Coast Guardsman who has spent countless hours working to better him or herself. This is also an insult to every person and organization who has worked tirelessly to provide our troops and their families with education benefits.

“Senator Kerry should retract his remarks and apologize immediately,” McGriff said after listening to comments made by Senator Kerry at a political rally in Pasadena, Calif., Monday. “It is especially outrageous coming from a member of the U.S. Senate.”

Breitbart.com

And another one:

AMVETS Calls on Senator to Apologize to Troops

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The National Commander of The American Legion called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for suggesting that American troops in Iraq are uneducated.

"As a constituent of Senator Kerry's I am disappointed. As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged," said National Commander Paul A. Morin. "A generation ago, Sen. Kerry slandered his comrades in Vietnam by saying that they were rapists and murderers. It wasn't true then and his warped view of today's heroes isn't true now."

While addressing a group of college students at a campaign rally in Pasadena, CA., Monday, Kerry suggested that they receive an education or "if you don't, you'll get stuck in Iraq."

"While The American Legion shares the senator's appreciation for education, the troops in Iraq represent the most sophisticated, technologically superior military that the world has ever seen," Morin said. "I think there is a thing or two that they could teach most college professors and campus elitists about the way the world works.

"And while we are on the topic of education, why doesn't the senator and his comrades in Congress improve the GI Bill so all of today's military members - reserves and guard included - can achieve the educational aspirations that the senator so highly values?" Morin said. "The senator's false and outrageous attack was over-the-top and he should apologize now."

Breitbart.com

Kerry's stated,"The White House's attempt to distort my true statement is a remarkable testament to their abject failure in making America safe," the Massachusetts senator said. "It's a stunning statement about their willingness to reduce anything in America to raw politics."

Uh, I saw the video and that looked a lot like you making the insensitive remarks Senator...

Hot Air has the video of the video here.

I wonder which side of this issue Hillary will come out on???

John Kerry Says US Soldiers Are Dumb...

Michelle Malkin has a post that describes Kerry's comments at an event for Phil Angelides.

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

From John Ziegler.com:

Today at Pasadena City College at an event on behalf of Phil Angelides former Presidential candidate John Kerry actually told the students there that they better study or they may end up "stuck in Iraq."

As usual, Kerry is a piece of work. Will the MSM report this? Nope!

President Obama?

There have been rumors floating around that Illinois State Senator Barack Obama may throw his hat in the ring for the 2008 presidential race.

Obama Says He Is Considering Running for President October 22, 2006

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 - Senator Barack Obama, the first-term Illinois Democrat who has rapidly emerged this year as one of the most popular figures in his party, said today that he was considering running for the White House in 2008, a shift in position that he said was in response to many Democrats pressing him to join the field.

"I don't want to be coy about this - given the responses that I've been getting over the last several months, I have thought about the possibility, but I have not thought about it with the seriousness and depth that I think is required," Mr. Obama said. "My main focus right now is in '06 and making sure that we retake the Congress. After November 7th, I'll sit down and consider it."

Barack Obama

This would almost certainly have been enough to send chills up the spines of Hillary Clinton's advisers, for Barack Obama is everything Senator Clinton is not: a new political player, exciting, charismatic and liked by most Americans, according to recent polls.

Senator Obama, 45 years old, tall and handsome and articulate, is the rising star of American politics, increasingly seen as the Democratic Party's best hope of winning the presidency in 2008.

So, Democrats have Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. The Republicans have Mitt Romney and George Allen. This could prove to be a very interesting presidential race.

No secret, you could not pay me to vote for Hillary, BUT, Senator Obama is another story. I have been impressed by him on a few occasions. Including his keynote address at the DNC.

Hillary Stands Up For Her Man...

I find it funny that the "EX"-President of the United States needs to have his wife stand up for him. Bill Clinton was known as a well liked and a very popular president. Now he throws a temper tantrum on Fox News.

Bill Clinton appeared on "FOX News Sunday With Chris Wallace" on Sunday, where he said he did more than many of his conservative critics to pursue bin Laden, and left behind for the Bush administration a comprehensive plan to fight Al Qaeda.

Hillary came out in defense of her man:

"I think my husband did a great job in demonstrating that Democrats are not going to take these attacks," Hillary Clinton said Tuesday. "I'm certain that if my husband and his national security team had been shown a classified report entitled 'Bin Laden Determined To Attack Inside the United States' he would have taken it more seriously than history suggests it was taken by our current president and his national security team."

The Roanoke Times

What did Bill Clinton need, a great big red "HELLO-READ ME" on the the report? While I did not agree with a lot of the decisions made by the Clinton Administration, I always thought he was a reasonably descent public figure. I was disapointed in his actions this past Sunday.

Bill Clinton In The Dog House?

Will Hillary kick Bill to the dog house for his positive comments on President Bush?

Former President Bill Clinton praised President Bush on Saturday for supporting reforms that would allow millions of illegal immigrants to seek citizenship but said the debate in Congress is being fomented by Republicans who want to divide America.

"I'm proud of him for doing it and I thanked him for doing it," he said of Bush

Clinton said Bush's roots in Texas - which has one of the nation's largest Hispanic populations - have helped him view immigrants as people rather than statistics.

"It's hard to demonize people if you know them," he said.

It's Tony Snow...

Last week, this blog reported that Tony Snow would be the next White House Press Secretary. Read more here. It looks like our crystal ball was right.

FOXnews is making the announcement on their site as I type.

WASHINGTON Tony Snow will be named new White House press secretary on Wednesday morning, FOX News has learned. Snow is expected to be at the White House for the announcement. He has been mulling the offer for the last several days.

I expect to see him at the podium in just a few days, in the press room at the White House," Fred Barnes, editor of The Weekly Standard and a FOX News contributor, said Tuesday.

The talk radio host was given a clean bill of health by his oncologist Tuesday, following a CAT scan and other tests that were undertaken last Thursday. Sources said Snow was President Bush's first choice, but he needed the all-clear from his doctors before he takes the job. Snow is recovering from colon cancer.

Good luck Tony!!!

Scott McClellan Resigns

With only days on the job, new C.O.S. Josh Bolton isn't wasting any time in making changes to the current Staff.

Today, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan resigned.

"I'm ready to move on," McClellan said while standing next to President Bush on the South Lawn of the White House.

McClellan, who has served as Bush's spokesman and defender during an especially trying time in the presidency, indicated that his decision was part of an ongoing personnel shake-up in the administration.

"The White House is going through a period of transition; change can be helpful, and this is a good time and good position to help bring about change," he said.

Bush said McClellan had performed a "job well done," and the two touched on their long relationship predating the presidency.

"I thought he handled his assignment with class, integrity," the president said. "It's going to be hard to replace Scott, but nevertheless he made the decision and I accepted it. One of these days, he and I are going to be rocking in chairs in Texas and talking about the good old days."

This blog has learned that Bush plans to tap current FOXnews' Tony Snow for the assignment. While this may be speculation, we feel it will happen.

Stay tuned for breaking details...

Homeland Security Sex Bust

Department of Homeland Security Deputy Press Secretary Brian Doyle busted! Doyle was charged with trying to seduce a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor.

Doyle, of Silver Spring, Md., had a sexually explicit conversation with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl whose profile he saw on the Internet on March 14, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The girl was an undercover Polk County Sheriff's Computer Crimes detective, the sheriff's office said.

Doyle sent the girl pornographic movie clips and had sexually explicit conversations via the Internet, the statement said.

During other online conversations, Doyle revealed his name, that he worked for the Homeland Security Department and offered his office and government issued cell phone numbers, the sheriff's office said.

On several occasions, Doyle instructed her to perform a sexual act while thinking of him and described explicit activities he wanted to have with her, investigators said.

Doyle later had a telephone conversation with an undercover deputy posing as the teenager and encouraged her to purchase a web camera to send graphic images of herself to him, the sheriff's office said.

He was booked into Maryland's Montgomery County jail where he was waiting to be extradited to Florida, the sheriff's office said.

Michelle Malkin Under The Microscope???

Michelle Malkin has a post on bloggers questioning her work ethics and writing skills.

Apparently the blog Is That Legal has a post that is not only insane, but is an outright personal attack on Michelle Malkin's work ethic and talent.

I will admit that while I may not agree with Michelle 100% of the time (probably in the 90's), she certainly does not deserve this kind of attack.

Law Prof. Eric Muller has listed the times that Michelle blogs and insinuates Michelle does not write all of her own posts. This is very weird...

A comment from Talkleft.com:

Add me to the list. In fact, it's creepy, almost like cyber-stalking. (Although Michelle goes a little overboard in calling him "insanely obsessed" and "deranged.")

I do not know Prof. Muller, it is clear that he has too much time on his hands.

Kerry and Kennedy Threaten Filibuster

Senator John Kerry and others are threatening a filibuster. Oh boy, here we go again...

From FOXnews:

WASHINGTON Massachusetts Sens. John Kerry and Edward Kennedy, along with a small number of other Senate Democrats, have threatened a filibuster to block the vote for Judge Samuel Alito's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court, FOX News has learned.

"Judge Alito has consistently made it harder for Americans to have their day in court. He routinely defers to the power of the government, no matter how extreme. And he doesnt believe women have a right to privacy thats protected by the Constitution," Kerry said in a statement.

"The president has every right to nominate Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. Its our right and our responsibility to oppose him vigorously and to fight against this radical upending of the Supreme Court," he added before announcing he would return to Washington early on Friday from Davos, Switzerland, where a Senate delegation was attending the World Economic Forum.

But a senior Democratic leadership aide told FOX News on Thursday that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and a majority of Democrats "do not support this action by Kerry and Kennedy. It is not politically advantageous for us."

The Senate's No. 2 Democrat said earlier in the day that while he opposes Alito, he thought it unlikely that Democrats would try to mount a filibuster.

"Having made a count, I have come to the conclusion that it is highly unlikely that a filibuster would succeed," said Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill.

"There's been adequate time for people to debate," Reid added.

But on the Senate floor late Thursday, Kennedy said support is growing for a filibuster, and Durbin, along with Sens. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan and Paul Sarbanes of Maryland would back an attempt.

Two Democrats announced Thursday that they would vote for the 55-year-old Alito: Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia and Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota. Both represent states that Bush carried in the 2004 presidential election.

In a speech on the Senate floor, Byrd, the longest-serving Democrat in the Senate, said he refused "simply to toe the party line when it comes to Supreme Court justices."

"My considered judgment ... leads me to believe [Alito] to be an honorable man, a man who loves his country, loves his Constitution and a man who will give of his best," said Byrd, who faces re-election in November. "Can we really ask for more?"

Johnson said that while he was "troubled" by some of Alito's views, "I cannot accept an argument that his views are so radical that the Senate is justified in denying his confirmation."

He also said he would oppose any filibuster of the nomination.

Harry Reid, Has He Completely Lost It?

Last week Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, made a statement that I would have expected to hear come from The Taliban or a member of Al Queda. Not a United States Senator.

"We killed the Patriot Act," boasted Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, to cheers from a crowd at a political rally after the vote.

Read more at The Washington Post.

If he disagrees with some of the language in the Patriot Act, then work through it.

If he disagrees with some of the issues in the Patriot Act, then work through it.

But for a U.S. Senator to come out and boast about an act that is vital to our national security, is borderline criminal in my opinion. Reid either needs to issue a retraction of his statement or resign.

President Bush's Three Step Plan...

Well, I have been listening to everything that has been going on lately with the President, and I really think he needs some advice from someone that he can count on, me! It's obvious that the Presidents on the right track, he just needs to step up the pace a little.

He is has currently started the process on the first step as you will read.

Step 1: Nominate a Conservative to SCOTUS that can get Senate confirmation.

So far Bush's nomination of Samuel Alito seems to be heading in the right direction. He has rallied the support of the Republican party while managing to fire up Democrats.

But Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) warned that a nomination of Alito, or any other candidates too far to the right, could run into trouble. "This is not one of the names I've suggested to the president," Reid said. "In fact, I've done the opposite," he said. "I think it would create a lot of problems."

Learn more about Judge Alito here:Who is Judge Alito

Step 2: Control Unnecessary Spending (Budget Control).

The President needs to work with Congress to further reduce unnecessary spending and cut programs that are not working. The Presidents budget calls for cutting the deficit in half over the next five years. His plan is to continue with pro-growth policies that will increase revenues into the Treasury while holding the line on Federal spending. While this could prove to be difficult for the President, he must get Congress to support this.

Step 3 (and the most important): Securing Our Nations Borders

This issue will be the President's hardest to achieve, but is so important to the American people that the President must make this happen. President Bush has directed DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff to "make this a priority".

DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff's comments before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee:

The ability of undocumented individuals to enter our country represents an obvious homeland security threat. Flagrant violation of our borders undercuts the rule of law, undermines our security, and imposes particular economic strains on our border communities. When we do not control our borders, we also risk entry into the U.S. of terrorists or others wishing to do us harm.

We also must consider the migrants who rely on coyotes- human traffickers and smugglers and are often robbed, abused, and left for dead on their illegal trek across our borders. We must do more to prevent these situations from continuing.

Read more of Chertoffs comments before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee: Chertoff's Comments

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff promised to end the "catch and release" policy that has allowed tens of thousands of non-Mexican illegal aliens to disappear within the United States.

"Return every single illegal entrant - no exceptions," Chertoff said. Chertoff said that the nearly 900,000 Mexicans who are caught entering United States every year are returned immediately to Mexico, "but other parts of the system have nearly collapsed under the weight of numbers." In the budget year that ended in September, the Border Patrol apprehended more than 160,000 non-Mexican nationals, but only 30,000 were removed from the United States. The others were released, often on their own recognizance, because there is no place to hold them. Few return for immigration hearings, he said.

Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., back a bill that would let illegal immigrants apply for a temporary work visa for up to six years, after which they must return home or apply for permanent residency.

I fully believe that if Bush achieves the above three steps, he can watch his approval ratings go up!

Senate Closes The Doors

In a rare session of Senate, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid demanded the doors be closed. Citing "misinformation and disinformation" by the Bush administration. Reid also said his decision was also prompted by the recent indictment of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff.

"The Libby indictment provides a window into what this is really about: how the administration manufactured and manipulated intelligence in order to sell the war in Iraq and attempted to destroy those who dared to challenge its actions," Reid said. "As a result of its improper conduct, a cloud now hangs over this administration."

Reid made the motion, and received an immediate second by Dick Durbin (like thats a surprise).

Republicans, who were clearly caught off-guard by the maneuver, called the move "gutter" politics. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (search) of Tennessee said the chamber was "hijacked" by Democrats.

Harriet Miers Withdraws

This morning, Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination to be the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice. Miers would have replaced Sandra Day O'Connor. After facing harsh criticism from both Republicans and Democrats, Miers withdrew citing Senate demands for release of internal White House documents in advance of her confirmation hearings.

"I have been greatly honored and humbled by the confidence that you have shown in me, and have appreciated immensely your support and the support of many others. However, I am concerned that the confirmation process presents a burden for the White House and our staff that is not in the best interest of the country,"

President Bush is said to have "Reluctantly" accepted her withdrawl.

Comments from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.:

"In choosing a replacement for Ms. Miers, President Bush should not reward the bad behavior of his right wing base,"

Harriet, Harriet, Harriet...

I had no intention of posting on the Harriet Miers nomination. Due to the fact that every blogger under then sun is posting about it. But, I saw a post at Nickie Goomba's Blog and could not resist. As I always say, "A picture is worth a thousand words..."

What's Mine is Mine and What's Your's is Mine!

For the longest time, conservatives, liberals and lefties have all wanted the whole pie. Never considering dividing it up and ALL having a piece or two. Today, SactoDan, a local fellow blogger has an excellent post on compromising in politics.

There are a number of people calling themselves Republicans who are considerably liberal. They are commonly referred to a RINOs (Republican in name only), who are willing to look like liberals to win. Then there are hard core conservatives who's opinions are so ingrained, they won't even engage in meaningful dialog.

So who is the message intended for???

Somewhere in between are pragmatic conservatives who still operate from core beliefs, but are amenable to some compromise to achieve a share of power, and further their principles.

Kennedy and Roberts Trade Blows

Direct from the Goomba News Network:

In what is shaping up to be an interesting confirmation, today Senator Edward M. Kennedy (Mass-D), agressively questioning Roberts on his briefs that were written during the Reagan administration. Kennedy described some of those writings on voting rights as a "narrow, cramped and mean-spirited view" that failed to show a full appreciation of discrimination. After repeatedly interrupting Roberts, Kennedy was told by Arlen Specter (PA-R) to "allow the nominee to finish his answers".

Kennedy: "I'm just trying to find out, on the Voting Rights Act, whether you have any problem at all and trouble at all in terms of the constitutionality of the existing Voting Rights Act that was extended by the Congress."

In a surprising repsonse, Roberts came out with a left hook. His response:

Roberts: "Oh. Well, the existing Voting Rights Act and the constitutionality has been upheld. And I don't have any issue with that." "Perhaps I can refer the Senator to the precedent-setting case of Chappaquiddick vs. Kopechne."
