Marriage has always been between one man and one woman. The Gay community came along and asked, why? Since no one had an answer that impressed the California Supreme Court, they ruled that what has always been, is no more. By judicial decree, marriage is now between any two people. The question is, what will be next?
When marriage was clearly defined as being between one man and one women it was equally available to all adults. Those choosing “non-traditional” family arrangements were free to do so, but could not be legally married.
A recent 48 Hours CBS’s news special on polygamy revealed that not all polygamists are religious nutballs like Warren Jeffs. They interviewed a modern polygamist family that otherwise looked pretty normal. Since the CA Supreme Court has thrown out the traditional definition of marriage, where do we draw the line? It is only a matter of time before someone asks “why is it OK for a man and a women, two men, or two women to be married but not three, four or even more people of any gender”?
Now that the horse has left the barn, it is only a matter of time before the polygamists will be in front of the court looking to exercise their rights. Where will it end? With the horse I fear.
